马来西亚宣布将启动在马来西亚半岛上500兆瓦太阳能项目的招标。这一被称为Large Scale Solar (LSS) 3的招标行动属该国第三轮大型光伏采购方案。
马来西亚能源科技及环境和气候变化部在一份声明中表示，这一项目由规模介于1-100兆瓦间的一系列太阳能公园构成，预计将筹集MYR20亿 (马来西亚林吉特，约合4.9亿美元）的投资。
该部部长Yeo Bee Yin在记者招待会上表示，这一招标行动将在年底前完成，而投标的截止日为8月底。被选中的开发商必须全部使用本土的劳动力进行工程、施工和调试服务。
马来西亚政府从2016年起推出LSS招标方案，取代了之前的上网电价方案。2016年的第一轮招标中，在马来西亚半岛分配了200兆瓦容量，在沙巴(Sabah)分配了50兆瓦容量。2017年举行的第二轮招标中，马来西亚半岛分配到360兆瓦，沙巴/纳闽(Labuan)分配到100兆瓦。
第二次LSS拍卖收到了1.6GW容量的项目建议书，投标价介于每千瓦时MYR0.33-0.53。
截至2017年底，马来西亚的装机容量为350兆瓦左右。该国还在2016年推出净计量方案，该方案计划至明年进口500MW的屋顶太阳能。马来西亚的2050年目标是可再生能源占50%。
