马来西亚能源和水务转型部（PETRA）启动了该国首个屋顶太阳能系统聚合计划。
这项社区可再生能源聚合机制（CREAM）计划允许房主将其屋顶空间出租或租借给第三方用于开发太阳能系统，为当地消费者提供电力。
马来西亚能源委员会发布的计划框架规定，根据该计划生产的绿色电力可以出售给5公里范围内的商业和家庭用户。
该计划将由所谓的本地能源发电和聚合商（LEGA）负责实施。他们将在聚合的住宅物业屋顶上开发太阳能系统，并管理与房主签订的所有屋顶租赁协议。
根据该计划的条款规定，供应给当地消费者的电力必须直接并入马来西亚国家能源公司（TNB）的配电网。
TNB还将负责实施本地化平衡解决方案，以维持电网稳定，并尽量减少因间歇性太阳能发电造成的中断。
PETRA在一份声明中补充说，该计划的实施基于开放电网接入的原则，这将“确保该计划对电力供应系统保持成本中立，且不会导致电力消费者的电价上涨”。
该部还表示，这项计划将“支持并推动能源转型努力”，包括实现到2035年将可再生能源占比提高到40%、到2050年提高到70%的目标。
在启动CREAM计划之前，马来西亚于2024年9月实施了企业可再生能源供应计划（CRESS），允许企业通过国家电网直接从可再生能源开发商处购买绿色电力。
2025年1月份，马来西亚最新一轮大型太阳能项目招标正式启动。
根据国际可再生能源署（IRENA）的最新数据，截至2024年底，马来西亚的累计太阳能装机容量已达到2306 MW，相比2023年的2146 MW有所增长。
