新加坡可再生能源开发商Equis Energy已获批在澳大利亚建造全球最大的太阳能电场——位于昆士兰州的一座1GW设施，Wandoan South太阳能项目(WSSP)，投资额为15-20亿美元。
Equis Energy表示，这一项目提供大量低成本清洁能源同时，也会给当地社区带来约400给新的就业和培训机会。在商业性可行时，WSSP项目将会增加电池储能，以便将能量储存起来，并促进夜间发电。
电场被选址在Wandoan镇西南12公里处一块1424公顷的土地上，该地区拥有全澳州最高幅度的太阳光照。
当地政府表示因能成为昆士兰的能源之都而感到自豪，并希望能够进一步成为全澳洲的能源之都。”
昆士兰政府最近透露计划在该州推出一个400兆瓦可再生能源的反向拍卖，有意向投资11.6亿澳元以推动清洁能源电力组合。该州目前已有700MW的大型太阳能容量，以及1.7吉瓦的屋顶光伏，另还有1.2吉瓦的公用事业规模的项目也正在开发中。
