圣基茨和尼维斯联邦政府已与瑞士蓄电池制造商Leclanché达成为大型太阳能及储能发电厂供电20年的购电协议。
该公司称，35.6 MW太阳能阵列将配套44.2 MWh蓄电容量，位于St.Kitts岛上，邻近Basseterre。新发电厂将建在当地国营公用事业公司Skelec旗下发电站附近，并向其出售电力。“这一系统将满足该国当前发电需求的25-30%，同时取代同等规模的柴油发电量，”Leclanché称。
该公司将提供储能技术，作为EPC承包商，负责太阳能发电厂和蓄能厂的部署。“该项目标志着由最先进的锂电池蓄能系统确保稳定的首个兆瓦级太阳能系统，能够被用来为加勒比岛上的公用事业提供真正的‘基载’电力，”Leclanché首席执行官Anil Srivastava表示。
