东南亚宣布的一组购电协议（PPA），标志着该地区正在进一步迈入太阳能发电领域。
总部位于吉隆坡的主要独立电力生产商 （IPP）Malakoff与MMC集团签署了一份谅解备忘录，将为MMC提供500 MW的太阳能发电能力。Malakoff将负责项目的开发、安装、运营和维护，而MMC Ports将是终端用户。 马来西亚对可再生能源技术的关注与日俱增，从大规模太阳能（LSS）采购计划等举措中，便可窥见一斑，而本协议的签署也符合这一趋势。
在菲律宾，总部位于圣胡安市的可再生能源公司Citicore与克拉克电力分销公司（CEDC）签订了一份为期一年的购电协议。根据购电协议，Citicore位于吕宋岛中部Tarlac的两座发电厂，将为该公用事业公司提供7.5 MW的电力，这两座发电厂的总发电量为15 MW。
待Citicore位于三描礼士省的60 MW Bato太阳能发电厂上线以后，该协议预计将延长至10年期。Citicore计划大举扩张太阳能业务，其还计划在吕宋岛开发另外四个项目。
为了支持公司的扩张，Citicore从总部位于新加坡的债务融资公司Pentagreen Capital获得了1亿美元的贷款，其中一部分资金将用于在该国北部的八打雁省建设太阳能发电厂。
根据国际可再生能源署（IRENA）2022年的一份报告，菲律宾的目标是到2030年实现清洁能源装机量达15 GW，由于该国的群岛性质，将重点建设小型电网和独立的清洁电力系统。
