2024年上半年，法国的负电价时间激增。法国电网运营商RTE报告称，1月至6月期间负电价时间为233个小时，而2023年上半年只有53个小时。
太阳能咨询公司KiloWattSol的记录表明，截至8月23日法国已有308小时的负电价时间，打破该国纪录。即使在2020年初疫情封控导致用电量下降期间，负电价时间也有75个小时。
RTE的记录显示，4月6日和6月15日的平均电价为负数，这是自2001年以来第五次和第六次出现负电价的情况。上一次是在2023年7月2日。因此，法国在2024年上半年的负电价时长首次超过德国。
当发电量超过用电量时，电力现货市场会出现负电价。而法国负电价的推动因素还包括可再生能源增长、恢复2022年关闭的核能发电以及电力需求走低。在整个欧洲，夏季是发电（尤其是太阳能发电）高峰期，因此限制了市场自我调节的能力。
