美国太阳能行业在2025年上半年新增14.5GW大型光伏装机，FERC定义“大型项目”为容量超过1MW的项目。在新增的19.4GW电力装机中，光伏贡献75%，风电新增3.1GW，天然气新增1.7GW。同时，上半年美国退役煤电容量约57MW。
从总发电装机结构看，天然气占比最高，达42.3%，其次为煤电（14.8%）、风电（11.8%）、光伏（11.3%）、核电（7.8%）和水电（7.6%）。石油、生物质、地热、余热等其他能源合计占比约4%。
FERC预计未来三年新增装机中，光伏仍将领跑，新增容量预计达92.6GW，其后依次为风电（23.3GW）和天然气（22.5GW）。同期煤电退役容量将超过25GW。
2025年6月已投运的主要光伏项目包括：

- 亚利桑那州皮纳尔县300MW的Box Canyon Solar项目
- 密苏里州阿代尔县250MW的Morris Solar项目
- 德州希尔县206.1MW的Mercury Solar & Storage项目
- 德州巴斯特罗普县200MW的Big Star Solar & Storage项目
- 印第安纳州谢尔比县199MW的Speedway Solar项目
- 德州吉姆韦尔斯县130.6MW的Orange Grove Solar & Storage项目
- 密歇根州格拉蒂奥特县100MW的Polaris Solar Park项目
- 犹他州埃默里县100MW的Hornshadow Solar项目
- 内华达州林肯县70MW的Escape Solar项目
- 马里兰州安妮皇后县56.7MW的Jones Farm Lane Solar项目
- 俄亥俄州克林顿县49.9MW的Clinton Solar项目
- 宾夕法尼亚州华盛顿县22MW的WS Sarish项目
- 田纳西州布朗特县7.5MW的SR Maryville East项目
