韩国国有能源公司韩国水电与核能公司(KHNP)与本土可再生能源公司华城太阳能(Hwaseong Solar Energy)，将在该国共同开发一座100兆瓦的浮动光伏电站。
这一项目位于据首尔70公里以西的华城镇，坐落在人工湖泊华城湖上。面积约为86.1万平方米，覆盖整个湖面的8.3%左右。KHNP对这一项目的投资额为2200亿韩元（约合2.2亿美元），且已与当地政府签订了土地长期租赁协议。而华城太阳能将成为该项目的EPC。完工后，这一浮动太阳能电站将成为韩国最大的太阳能发电厂，也将是韩国最大的光伏发电设施之一。
在亚洲许多地区，浮动太阳能设施日渐成为一种可行且高效的选择，特别是在那些具有挑战性地形和空间限制的地区，如日本、台湾和韩国等。
韩国目前的可再生能源普及率为7%，政府的2030年目标是20%。
