加拿大阿尔伯塔省(Alberta)基础设施部宣布，在公开的电力拍卖中选择了三个总容量为94MW的项目，平均最终价格为每千瓦时0.048加元（约合0.036美元）。
加拿大太阳能行业协会强调，这一价格“低于2008年至2018年间该省天然气发电的平均历史批发电价”。 阿尔伯塔省政府则表示这些新设施可覆盖55%的政府年用电量，每年可节省390万加元的支出。
阿特斯阳光电力(Canadian Solar)是这三个公用事业规模项目的唯一中标方。它将与本土公司Conklin Métis Local 193 合作共建这些项目，双方各占50%的股权。预计这三个项目的年发电量为146431兆瓦，且已经获得了20年期（2021-2041）的购电协议。
阿特斯公司在一份新闻稿中表示，所有这三个项目均将使用双面太阳能电池板。由于它们能够同时从正面和背面发电，因而可产生比标准太阳能电池板高出20%的电力。
阿尔伯坦省政府计划到2030年时使可再生能源达到5GW的装机容量，占总发电量的30%，并在此期间逐步淘汰煤电。
