法国可再生能源开发商Neoen在法国科尔巴斯(Corbas)的一个停车场上安装了一个16.3兆瓦的光伏列阵。这一设施占地12.5公顷，拥有4,600个工业性停车位，是法国目前最大的一个停车场项目。
Neoen公司项目经理JulietteMoutarlier表示，法国太阳能车棚的普及率和规模都在不断扩大。“它们被不少物流中心和停车场运营商所采用，为这些运营商赢得更环保的形象、当地的能源产量和新的收入来源。”
Corbas项目耗资1,910万欧元，建设耗时仅5个月。这一设施每年将向电网出售19.5 吉瓦时的电力，而法国政府为其设定的上网电价为0.102欧元/千瓦时。
Neoen董事总经理Xavier Barbaro表示，Corbas车棚的发电成本比地面光伏设施的发电成本高出50%左右，但这一差距在很大程度上通过电力传输成本的节省被抵消。使用太阳能车棚，发电成本为80-90欧元/兆瓦时，而地面阵列的发电成本约为50-60欧元/兆瓦时，但前者节省了30欧元/兆瓦时的并网成本。
太阳能车棚的另一个主要优势是，它们不会改变设施所在土地的用途。而这一点在法国很重要，因为法国监管机构和公众对光伏如何整合入自然景观十分挑剔。例如在农村的一些地区，地面太阳能设施已经遭到了反对。但到目前为止，还没有听到任何人对在他们的停车场安装太阳能电池板的进行指责或抱怨。
