美国加州公共事业委员会（CPUC）已经批准了公用事业机构Pacific Gas & Electric Company与开发商们所签订的4个电池储能合同。这其中包括Dynegy的300MW锂离子电池、182.5MW的特斯拉电池和另外两个共计85MW锂离子电池项目，总容量达567MW。
据《光伏杂志》所知，Dynegy的300MW锂离子电池项目应为目前全球最大的蓄电池项目。
所有这些蓄电池的总额定功率为2.27吉瓦时，均将位于莫斯兰丁（Moss Landing）电站的工地上或附近，这些蓄电池将被连接到为莫斯兰丁电厂而建的变电站和输电基础设施，并将在之后取代这一燃气发电厂。
电站拥有方Dynegy公司曾在去年2月表示可能关闭这一电站。而据CPUC报道，位于Gilroy的另一座热电厂也发出了即将关闭的信号。
目前在加州，常规发电正越来越多地被清洁能源所取代，这些传统电站逐渐关闭并被蓄电池设施取代也成为了大势所趋。
而另一方面，这一趋势似乎对纳税者更为有利。CPUC发现，相较于其他的一些采购方案，它能为纳税人带来更多的价值。
