REC Silicon ASA将在美国华盛顿州摩西湖工厂再次裁员100人，时间不过是在这家陷入困境的多晶硅生产厂上一轮裁员的仅一年后。在公司发布的声明中，REC Silicon呼吁美国政府恢复“……在中国市场上销售美国多晶硅的公开、公平和不受限制的通道”。
在以低产能利用率运转一年多之后，工厂即将进入长期关闭状态。REC Silicon原本计划早在3月份停止在摩西湖的生产，但这个截止日期一再延长，主要因为最近众所期待的美国总统特朗普与中国领导人习近平在最近的日本G20峰会上举行会议，希望解决美中贸易争端，以恢复其进入中国市场的机会。
尽管仍有望通过贸易谈判取消从美国进口多晶硅进入中国的关税，但REC Silicon承认，政府并未提出这样一项决议的最后期限，也没有给出何时可能出现的确定性。
现在看来，这个陷入困境的制造工厂可等待的时间已经耗尽，长期停工导致了再一次裁撤100个工作岗位。REC Silicon表示仍将留下不明数量的员工在现场，以便让设施可在短时间内重新启动，并且如果能够在短期内恢复中国多晶硅市场，将重新雇用其熟练的员工。
公司指出，其位于蒙大拿州Butte，为半导体行业生产多晶硅的另一家美国工厂不会受到摩西湖工厂关闭的影响。公司还确认，与关闭工厂和削减劳动力相关的重组成本将与之前报告的370万美元一致。
