安德拉邦政府已批准建立10吉瓦的太阳能发电厂，以满足农业部门的电力需求。据《PTI》报道，该项目目标是在白天为农民提供9个小时的电力供应。 由首席部长YS Jagan Mohan Reddy主持的内阁会议还批准了设立一个综合可再生能源项目（IREP）。
《PTI》引用信息和公共关系部长Perni Venkataramaiah的话说：“作为IREP的一部分，我们将建造起550兆瓦的风力发电厂、1200兆瓦的抽水蓄能水力发电厂，以及1000兆瓦的太阳能发电厂。”
该邦政府于今年2月提出了建设自己的10吉瓦太阳能发电项目的提议，因为每年用于农业补贴、抽水灌溉费用和水产养殖补贴的金额已经超过100亿卢比。
这些年来，随着供电成本的上涨以及接入电网的农用泵组的数量增加，这些补贴的额度还在不断增加。
