津巴布韦能源管理局（ZERA）本周报告称，七个总容量达66.6 MW的太阳能光伏发电项目目前已进入后期施工阶段，预计将于今年年底并网发电。
ZERA首席执行官Edington Mazambani表示：“我们预计今年年底将有七家发电厂投产。这一事实清楚地表明，我们确实制定了强有力的法规来保护投资者和消费者。”他还补充说，太阳能光伏发电是所有获许可IPP项目的主要能源。
其中一个在建项目是一座5 MW的Wartrail发电厂，位于南马塔贝莱兰省Bulilimamangwe。该项目由Plum Solar (Pvt) Ltd.建造。此外，SolGas (Pvt) Ltd.计划在北马塔贝莱兰省Hwange建造另一个5 MW项目。
与此同时，Richaw Solar Tech (Pvt) Ltd.正在北马塔贝莱兰省Gwanda建造5 MW的Sunset Technologies太阳能发电园区。Harava太阳能发电园区正在东马绍纳兰省Seke安装一套20 MW的太阳能阵列。
Power Ventures (Private) Ltd.正在北马塔贝莱兰省Hwange区建造一个25 MW的Chidobe-Mizpah项目。Guruve Solar Park (Pvt) Ltd.还在中马绍纳兰省Guruve区建造5 MW的Guruve太阳能发电园区。
这六个项目都与一家未具名电力公司签订了购电协议。Plum Solar的PPA协议期限为20年，其余的均为25年。
津巴布韦正在开发的第七套装置是一个0.5 MW离网型混合太阳能柴油发电项目。Kefalos Cheese Products (Pvt) Ltd.正在东马绍纳兰省建造此阵列。
根据国际可再生能源机构的最新统计，到2020年底，津巴布韦的光伏装机容量约为17 MW。在过去的十年里，该国电网每天都在遭受停电之苦，政府也一直努力筹集资金投资建设新的发电站。津巴布韦目前依靠从邻国莫桑比克和南非进口的电力，且计划到2025年部署1 GW的清洁能源产能。
