南非矿产资源和能源部已公布第五轮可再生能源独立发电商采购计划（REIPPPP）的结果。
总体而言，南非当局在25个项目中分配了2583 MW的可再生能源装机容量，项目规模从75到140 MW不等。
本轮采购活动的最低报价为0.34425南非兰特（合0.02279美元），项目是计划在北开普省地区Hantam建造的一座124 MW风力设施。至于太阳能技术方面，最低报价为0.37479南非兰特（合0.02481美元），为预计将建在自由州省Lejweleputswa地区的Tokologo的六个75 MW太阳能园区。
“这些太阳能光伏项目的平均电价为$0.029/kWh，比12个风电场的平均水平低约13%，尽管每个项目的平均规模都更小一些，”Blue Horizon Energy Consulting Services的能源专家Chris Ahlfeldt告诉《光伏》杂志，“如果Eskom不需要处理北开普省的输电限制的话，太阳能光伏的平均电价还会更低。”
根据Ahlfeldt的说法，第五轮太阳能光伏项目中只有两个将建在北开普省，而其余的将分布于全国其他省份。他还透露，“鉴于南非仍处于新冠疫情后的经济恢复阶段，需要在本地创造就业机会，推动经济发展，因此这些项目规划将如何实现社会经济影响目标值得关注。”
该部最初已预选了39个风能项目和63个太阳能项目进入投标。
挪威开发商Scatec在一份新闻稿中透露，其在这轮采购活动中分配到273 MW的光伏装机容量。“Scatec将拥有这些项目51%的权益，我们当地的‘黑人经济振兴’合作伙伴H1 Holdings拥有46.5%，另有一个社区信托基金拥有2.5%。财务结算预计在2022年上半年完成，并在2023年底前实现并网和商业运营，”这家公司表示，但没有提供更多细节。
