埃因霍温理工大学学生们开发出第一辆完全由太阳能驱动的越野车。该研究小组称该车可合法上路，且不受充电站限制。
该车“Stella Terra”最高时速为145 km，重1,200 kg，最大续航里程为630 km。
“Stella Terra必须在承受恶劣越野条件的同时保持高效轻便，才能由太阳提供动力，”该学生小组的团队经理Wisse Bos说，“因此我们必须自行设计Stella Terra从悬挂到太阳能电池板逆变器的几乎所有部件。”
该小组说，该车比目前市售的光伏动力车“领先5到10年”。 学生们所属的Solar Team Eindhoven已造出其他仅用于道路行驶的太阳能汽车。根据声明，该越野车已在荷兰进行了测试，并将在十月份随造车团队将前往摩洛哥，接受不同条件下的测试。
