博茨瓦纳钻矿及钻石贸易公司(DTC Botswana) 已发出招标，寻求开发商为其位于喀拉哈里沙漠纳勒迪河谷哈博罗内的矿区建设一座600kW的地面光伏发电站。
该公司表示，哈博罗内钻矿的最大设计产电量为3.5 kW，实际最大需求量约为1 kW。该公司由政府和英国戴比尔斯(De Beers)钻石公司合资成立，双方各持股50%。
本次招标建设的600 kW发电站，是目前在建的350 kW发电站的升级版，预计于2021年4月底投入使用”，该公司在招标文件中表示，“升级成功后，公司太阳能光伏电站的总发电量将达到950 kW。”
感兴趣的开发商可以在4月19日前向公司进行投标报价。
根据国际可再生能源署的最新统计数据，截至2019年底，博茨瓦纳已安装的光伏发电项目仅为3 MW。该国打算通过净计量发电计划，推动屋顶光伏项目发展，并多次招标部署大型光伏项目。此外，拥有博茨瓦纳南部K.Hill锰矿项目的加拿大吉雅尼金属公司，近期已对其矿区内的太阳能电站建设，完成了可行性研究。
