德国光伏设备制造商Schmid公司在利雅得举行的未来投资倡议（FII）论坛上，与沙特本土公司签署了两份成立合资企业的意向书(LoI)，涉及投资金额4.3亿美元。
Schmid的合作伙伴中包括沙特基础工业公司（SABIC）和沙特的项目开发商RIWAQ公司。Schmid表示，合作的聚焦点将会是利用该公司的氧化还原流动技术，进行创新型硅材料和产业化能源储能领域的技术开发和制造。
此次利雅得的经济首脑会议极少有人关注。由于西方籍记者Jamal kashoggi近日在沙特驻土耳其大使馆被杀一事，诸多政府要员和业界领袖纷纷缺席此次论坛。而随着更多细节的披露，沙特政府收到的来自公众的压力也与日俱增。
Schmid公司拒绝了对目前的政治形势进行评论的要求，也未透露有关这两个拟建合资企业的更多细节。
